Mathew and Lauren originally from Minnesota in the USA were married two years in July. To celebrate they decided to have a boho-inspired shoot in the Wicklow mountains, Ireland to remember their time here. Both living in Ireland a year now, it was important for them to capture some wildly romantic and beautiful landscape scenes so they would have these memories forever. Their wedding anniversary shoot takes on a journey through the misty Wicklow mountains, secluded country roads, majestic mountains, and green rolling hills of Ireland. I felt it was apt that we take their journey to one of my favourite spots, Lough Tay or also known as the Guinness Lake. The shoot is Boho-inspired with Lauren wearing a long black dress that the wind just loved and Mathew dressing smart casual for the early misty morning session. Once the mist had cleared that morning we were left with the rich green rolling mountains and the deep black lake of Lough Tay. The contrasting colours with the overcast cloud cover made for a wonderful back drop and lots of moodier shots. These kids are the cutest.
There are many momentous events in life, milestones almost all of us experience and I have photographed all of them at some stage or another. But, I feel so honoured to have been asked to photograph Bridget's 100th birthday party, in Castle Bellingham, County Louth last weekend. It was wonderful for me personally, because celebrating a 100th birthday is still so rare for any of us. The day was so wonderful, and brought me back to my wonderful grandad who is 92. He walks approx 5k a day and is a true inspiration to me personally, and Bridget reminded me a lot of him. It was a absolute privilege to be asked to come along and capture the memories of the party with four generations of her family and close friends among the guests.
The day kicked of with a wonderfully elegant reception, in the front rooms of the castle. The light was low and it shone into the grand room while with delicious food and champagne was served to guests. It was followed by a sit down meal fit for a queen, complete with cake, candles and champagne of course! The family were so welcoming and warm its like we knew each other for years. We took a bunch of family group portraits and I got some great candids in between and after. These photos are just a few quick edits, the rest will follow in a few weeks, but as you will see it was all about fun and celebrating this wonderful lady reaching such a fabulous age.
I love the sweet moments captured here and I bet this family had an awesome day. So glad I could be a small part of the celebrations. Happy Birthday Bridget x
